Apply to participate in the mentored Youth Waterfowl Hunt on Sept. 20, 2014
On Sept. 20, 2014, we'll hold the mentored Youth Waterfowl Hunt to give kids a chance to hunt waterfowl with highly experienced hunters. The annual event is held in conjunction with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah Waterfowl Association and the Utah Conservation Officers Association.
The mentored Youth Waterfowl Hunt is open to kids who are between the ages of 12 and 17 as of Sept. 20, 2014.
If you'd like to participate, you must complete the questionnaire by July 25, 2014. We will select and notify the winners by July 26, 2014. Not everyone who fills out the questionnaire will be able to participate in the youth hunt. So you will not be required to purchase or borrow any equipment listed on this questionnaire unless you're selected for the hunt.
If you're selected for the hunt, you're also encouraged to attend a free, educational shotgunning class at 9 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2014 at Lee Kay Shooting Center. We can provide a shotgun if the kid does not have one for this event. Clay pigeons will also be provided.
You must also complete a Utah Hunter Education course prior to the hunt on Sept. 20, 2014.
In addition to the mentored youth hunt, the Utah Youth Fair will be held at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area on September 13th, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free giveaways (duck calls, decoys, boat rides, etc). Learn more about the Utah Youth Fair at utahwaterfowlfair.com.
(Note: Kids under the age of 12 and kids that are not selected for the mentored Youth Waterfowl Hunt can still participate in the statewide youth waterfowl hunt.)
